About the Department
Department Profile
The department of Mechanical Engineering was approved by AICTE, affiliated to DOTE and was established in the year 1986. Till date 33 batches have passed out with flying colors. A department flourishes in academics and in extracurricular activities only with the strength, support and guidance of its knowledgeable and experienced faculties. Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of physics and material science of analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical system is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest broadest engineering disciplines.
The department of evolved a comprehensive students centric learning approach, designed to add significant values to the learner, understands in an integrated manner through workshops, laboratory sessions, assignments, seminar, projects and independent study. To enlighten the mechanical brains at our campus, the department has inculcated the best of the industry’s practices through its syllabus. Our Mechanical Engineers are the wizards, who develop physical systems and devices to address needs with a futuristic vision. Many inventions of these intellects have changed the course of life adding sophistication.
Modernized foundry, smithy, CNC lab and welding lab, well equipped special machines lab have been established in our department for the welfare of the students. Students get practical training about turning, thread cutting, knurling, drilling and facing at lathe section. The advanced software tools like PRO-E, CAM, CADD and CATIA are available in our lab enables the students to develop the design and modeling knowledge

Department Laboratories
5 Labs
This lab deals with various electronic techniques and serves as a platform for understanding the operating principles of active and passive components, basic DC power supply through experiments and to study their characteristics. Logic gates, Flip-flops are constructed by students and tested using truth tables. Specially designed PLC operates under industrial environments (conveyor control, timer, lift control).
Students are given experiments involving working of antennas, filters and microphones, designing modulation and demodulation using ASK, PSK, FSK, PWM, PPM, and TDM. In-depth knowledge of optical analog link, optical digital link and voice link. Students learn to install DTH with TV demonstration. P-SPICE and Multisim software are used for simulation.
Students learn to program in VHDL, C, and assembly language. Study of FPGA Spartan kit and ARM processor kit. Training is given to design and develop various combinational circuits, seven-segment displays, LEDs and interfacing peripherals. Students synthesize using Xilinx ISE software and Keil Software.
This lab provides students a platform to know about various indicators, switches, SMPS, motherboards and disk drives used in computers. Students gain practical knowledge on installation of devices like printer, scanner, web camera and biometric devices. Training is given to assemble, check PC systems and laptops, and impart knowledge on networking, cabling, Internet connection and debugging network issues.
Students are trained in 8/16 bit microcontrollers. Individual training is given to each student by providing a separate microcontroller kit. Interfacing of various peripherals like stepper motor, DC motor, DAC, Traffic light, ADC and seven-segment as a development tool helps students carry out real-time experiments.

40 Final year and 44 second Year Mechanical students visited Maxwell Auto Components Pvt.Ltd, Coimbatore along with 7 faculty members on 9th August 2024.
Health and wellness program was conducted on 19th July 2024. The resource person was Mr.Dr. M. Govindharajan, Diploma in Acupuncture, Chidambaram. Totally 125 Mechanical students were participated.

Our Mechanical Engineering staff and students organized a Old age home visit to Amma old home, Thiruvathigai and donated food items to the aged people on 6th August 2024.
Placement training program was conducted for the second Year Mechanical students on 30th January 2025. The resource person was Mr.Dr.S.Saravanan trainer, Chennai. Totally 66 students were participated.
Entrepreneurship workshop training program was conducted for the second Year Mechanical students on 10 th February 2025. The resource person was Mr.Dr .Jamal Mohamed Zubair, Head institutional Development, SVC group of institution, Thenkasi. Totally 66 students were participated.
36 th Diploma award ceremony was conducted at our college on 04 th January 2025. The chief guest was Rev.Sr.Dr.BJ.Queensly jeyanthi SAT. 23 Mechanical students received their diploma certificates.
Intra Project Expo was conducted at our college on 7 th April 2025. In Mechanical Engineering 5 best projects were exhibited among this Fabrication of free energy water pump was awarded as the best project.

35 th Diploma Award Ceremony was conducted in our college on 16 th December 2023. The chief guest for this function was Mr.L.Srinivasan HR Head, LucasTVS, Puducherry. In this function 29 Mechanical students received their diploma certificates.

The department of Mechanical Engineering conducted Canada india institutional co operation project (CIICP) on SOLID WORKS software course. 37 students from final year Mechanical Engineering are attending the course from 09.01.2023.
The soft skill program was conducted for the final year Mechanical Engineering students on 20.03.2023. Nearly 84 students were participated. The soft skill trainer for this program was Mr.Amuthamathiyalagan corporate trainer, Chennai on the topic personality development , memory techniques and Interview skills.

The best student award was given to all department students those who were excellence in both academic and non academic performance. In our Mechanical Department the best student award with a memento was given to Mr.M.Mohanraj and Mr.R.Suresh final year (2020-2023) batch on farewell day ( 25.04.2023 ).
